Linda Kennedy Hassel MSW, LCSW
Linda has over 25 years of experience providing therapeutic services to clients in the Berks County area and beyond. Her undergraduate degree is from Alvernia University and she received her Graduate Degree from Marywood University.
Her approach is Rogerian, which is Client-Centered Therapy. This is a non-directive approach where one can expect unconditional positive regard, acceptance and support. In therapy, Linda will partner with the client as he or she moves through loss or life transitions while healing transformation occurs. As a Client–Centered Therapist, Linda feels that empathic understanding and genuineness are important in the therapeutic relationship. EMDR therapy is one of many tools in her arsenal of therapeutic interventions, as well as trauma-informed care.
Linda has extensive training in Grief Counseling and has a special passion for working with mothers who have lost a child. It is her way of being an anchor of hope as Linda herself has suffered that devastating loss several years ago.
She believes there is a strong body/mind connection and stresses a healthy life style. She also feels that anyone called to work with others needs to take the time and explore their own self first and work on their healing.
Linda’s areas of expertise include Grief and Loss, Death of a Child, Life Transitions, Domestic Violence and Relationship Issues. In Graduate School the focus of her research was Mothers with HIV: Illness Cognition and Future Plans.
Linda is the mother of three adult children and has five grandchildren. Sher lives in Wyomissing with her dogs, Gideon and Asher.
